A celebration with pastel flowers, arrivals by boat and tables overlooking the lake
This wedding at Villa Lario Resort brought together around 80 guests in Mandello del Lario, where the green gardens meet the water and the mountains. The couple chose to celebrate with their closest loved ones, beginning the festivities with a welcome dinner in Lierna the evening before.
White, pale blue and lilac defined the floral design, carried through the bouquet, the ceremony and the long banquet tables at dinner. The lake provided the backdrop throughout the day.
The welcome dinner at Sottovento in Lierna
The evening before, guests arrived by boat at Ristorante Sottovento in Lierna, on the Lecco branch of Lake Como. Its garden and waterfront terrace, with views towards Bellagio, offer a welcoming setting for a gathering before the wedding. Lemons and oranges decorated the venue, while the buffet, an Ape vehicle fitted with a pizza oven and a spritz party featuring Aperol, Campari and limoncello spritzes gave the evening a relaxed Italian feel. A photo booth entertained the guests, who received welcome bags filled with Italian treats and small essentials for their stay at the end of the evening.
A wedding at Villa Lario Resort amid gardens and lake views
Villa Lario Resort Mandello is an early twentieth-century residence transformed into a five-star hotel in Mandello del Lario. Its private park, panoramic terraces and jetty offer different perspectives on the landscape while preserving an intimate atmosphere. The villa and its lakeside spaces hosted each stage of the wedding, from the preparations to the party.
The bride got ready in the Bellagio Suite, while the groom spent the hours before the ceremony in the Tivano Suite. Her white gown was complemented by a bouquet in shades of white, pale blue and lilac. The bridesmaids wore powder blue, echoing the same palette alongside the dark suits of the groom and his attendants.
Before the guests arrived, the couple met for their first look and spent some time taking portraits with their closest loved ones. Guests then arrived at the villa’s jetty by boat from Varenna and were greeted with a welcome drink overlooking the lake.
A ceremony with pastel flowers and live music
The ceremony took place on the lawn overlooking the lake, with the water and the outline of the mountains behind the couple. Two continuous floral borders lined the aisle between rows of white chairs. A lush, low arrangement framed the couple as they exchanged their vows, leaving the view of the landscape unobstructed.
White, pale blue and lilac flowers blended with greenery in a soft arrangement, with delicate touches of colour along the aisle. Keeping the flowers close to the ground created a garden within the garden, preserving the open view across the lake.
A harp and cello accompanied the entrances and the key moments of the ceremony. The bride walked down the aisle with a loved one, joining the groom in front of their guests. One of the couple’s guests officiated, making the ceremony even more personal. The ring exchange also involved the guests, who were invited to look beneath their chairs for the rings.
Cocktails on the terrace and guest portraits
After the ceremony, guests moved to the lower terrace for the cocktail reception. The buffet tables were decorated with arrangements in the wedding colours, while a jazz trio accompanied the toasts and conversations. The lake remained at the centre of the scene, beyond the terrace balustrade.
The newlyweds enjoyed a short boat ride, taking a moment just for themselves before returning to celebrate with their guests. Meanwhile, an artist painted portraits of the guests, offering understated entertainment and a personal keepsake to take home. Displayed side by side, the portraits became a distinctive detail of the cocktail reception.
A magical dinner
For dinner, guests made their way to the pool area, where a transparent marquee sheltered the long banquet tables. White draping and chandeliers created a luminous setting with views of the garden and the lake. The seating chart, decorated with flowers at its base, guided guests to their places.
Continuous floral runners along the banquet tables echoed the white, pale blue and lilac of the ceremony. Pale blue candles at the sides and violet candles among the flowers added colour and light. Light-coloured linens, chairs with rounded backs and personalized menus completed an elegant table setting in which the floral design played a central role.
The couple’s entrance was followed by their first dance, before dinner was served. Further dances with loved ones extended this opening moment, while speeches were interspersed between courses. Risotto and ravioli featured on the menu, as music, toasts and conversation accompanied a relaxed evening together.
The cake cutting and the party
After dinner, guests returned to the lower terrace for the cake cutting. The tiered white cake was surrounded by flowers in the colours of the day, framing the cake table. A toast and a few words from the newlyweds rounded off the moment before everyone enjoyed the cake together.
The party then continued inside the villa with a DJ set and a music selection chosen by the couple.
From the welcome at Sottovento to dinner among flowers and candles, this wedding at Villa Lario Resort retained a personal, convivial atmosphere, with Lake Como a constant presence and a pastel palette connecting the different settings.
