When cultures meet and emotions flow
An Indian wedding on Lake Como is much more than a celebration. It is a journey, a story told through culture, traditions and emotions, set against one of the most iconic landscapes in Italy.
For this extraordinary four days wedding, SugarEvents had the honor of collaborating with The Doli Diary, a renowned Indian wedding planning agency based in Mumbai.
A collaboration born from the meeting of two worlds. On one side, our deep knowledge of Lake Como locations and our network of trusted Italian suppliers. On the other, their ability to bring to life Indian rituals and traditions, always with extraordinary care, attention to detail and an inspiring passion.
Together, we created a magnificent and authentic destination wedding, welcoming around 130 international guests and guiding them through the discovery of Italy, its flavors and its timeless beauty.
As the cherry on top – VOGUE India
To make this experience even more special, our event was also featured on Vogue India. A beautiful recognition and a true source of pride for our entire team. Day 1 – Couple shooting and Mehendi rituals
The first day was dedicated to beauty, intimacy and the very first shared moments.
The couple began with a romantic couple shooting on Lake Como aboard a Riva Ariston, an icon of timeless Italian elegance, followed by a photo session through the charming streets of Bellagio, surrounded by breathtaking views and refined atmospheres.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the bridal Mehendi, with a talented mehendi artist decorating the hands and the feet of the bride and her closest family members. An intimate and meaningful ritual, gently introducing Indian wedding traditions into the heart of the celebration.
The day ended with a private family dinner, a moment to reconnect, share emotions and begin creating unforgettable memories.
Day 2 – Morning – Haldi ceremony at Sheraton Lake Como
The second day began with the joyful Haldi ceremony, held at the elegant Sheraton Lake Como.
The Haldi is a traditional pre wedding ritual during which a mixture of turmeric, oils and natural ingredients is applied to the skin of the couple as a symbol of purification, good fortune and protection.
Between laughter, spontaneous smiles and pure happiness, everyone ended up covered in yellow. Messy, joyful and completely immersed in the moment.
A deeply authentic experience that brought family and friends together in an atmosphere full of warmth and positive energy.
Day 2 – Evening – Italian Welcome Dinner
The evening continued with a Welcome Dinner in full Italian style at Kincho Restaurant inside Sheraton Lake Como.
We designed an Italian Bazaar with giveaway stalls, filled with carefully selected Italian products such as tomato sauces, pasta, handmade ceramics, pizza cutters, and postcards featuring the most beautiful spots of Lake Como, which guests could take home as souvenirs.
A lively Italian folk quartet entertained the evening, involving guests with traditional songs performed with mandolin, accordion, guitar and violin.
Dinner was a true celebration of Italy with a buffet of traditional dishes, a pizza party, gnocchi, an ice cream cart, and plenty of excellent Italian wine. A DJ set accompanied the rest of the evening, transforming dinner into a joyful celebration.
A vibrant palette featuring orange, yellow, red and bright green, enriched with seasonal flowers and decorative elements made of fruits and vegetables such as lemons, oranges and peppers, creating a colorful Mediterranean atmosphere.
A night designed to warmly welcome 130 Indian guests arriving from all over the world, making them feel embraced by Italian culture from the very first moment.
Day 3 – Sangeet at Villa Geno, Como
The third day was dedicated to the Sangeet, one of the most vibrant and entertaining moments of an Indian wedding, hosted at the stunning Villa Geno in Como.
Bold tones of bright pink, fuchsia and orange, with a soft touch of yellow and vibrant green.
A tensostructure decorated with hanging floral installations, creating a dynamic and immersive visual impact.
Guests enjoyed a buffet combining Indian and Italian cuisine, blending flavors and cultures into a unique gastronomic experience.
Music took center stage thanks to DJ and Tabla players, who animated the entire event.
Several interactive experiences were available throughout the day
– Hookah service with a wide selection of flavors
– Sketch artist creating portraits for guests
– Mehendi artists decorating guests’ hands with henna
– Giveaway table featuring Potlis, Jhumkas and Indian Bangles, that are traditional Indian accessories such as decorative pouches and jewelry
The DJ also hosted fun and engaging games
– Who has the Bride or Groom
– Paper Dance Couple Game
– Guess the Song
– Dance Off Bride vs Groom
The celebration continued with an indoor after party, DJ and jazz trio, ice cream cart, pizza cart, and a rich sweets buffet.
Day 4 – Morning – Wedding ceremony and Indian lunch at Villa Erba
The wedding day unfolded entirely at the magnificent Villa Erba in Cernobbio, one of the most iconic venues on Lake Como.
The bride and her closest guests got ready in the elegant Sala Contessa, while a Safa service was provided for close family members in their hotels.
The groom and his groomsmen arrived at Villa Erba by boat, beginning a spectacular Baraat, led by an open truck with DJ, accompanied by a Dhol player and the joyful cheering of all guests. From the dock, the procession reached the darsena, where the ceremony would take place.
Guests were welcomed with Masala Chai and water before attending the Hindu ceremony celebrated by a priest.
A ceremony filled with tradition, spontaneity, love, laughter and deeply emotional moments.
The Mandap, set directly on the darsena facing the historic villa, was framed by delicate floral arrangements, blush pink armchairs and a refined palette of pale pink, white, cream and soft peach.
During the ceremony, a live painter captured the union of the couple in a beautiful canvas painting.
Afterwards, guests enjoyed an entirely Indian buffet lunch, seated at round tables designed for comfort, with elegant centerpieces and pink candles.
Once lunch ended, a relaxing break allowed guests to return to their hotels, rest and change outfits before the evening celebration.
Day 4 – Evening – Wedding reception and Gala Dinner
In the afternoon, guests were welcomed back for an aperitif by the lake, accompanied by DJ and Tabla players.
An elegant portrait setup overlooking the water and an audio guest book, where guests could leave heartfelt voice messages, added a personal and emotional touch.
Everyone was then invited into the hall for a lovely first dance, with the couple making a dramatic entrance down the grand staircase.
The Gala Dinner featured stunning imperial tables arranged across three rooms of the historic villa, with heartfelt speeches from family and friends throughout the evening.
The floral design embraced a sophisticated palette inspired by brown coffee and mocha mousse tones, with a continuous floral runner, gold vases, tea lights and candles creating an intimate and refined atmosphere.
The celebration continued on the darsena with the cake cutting and champagne tower, followed by a dessert buffet, ice cream cart, and a lively after dinner DJ set with Tabla players, lasting until late into the night.
A truly unforgettable finale to a wedding that beautifully united cultures, hearts and traditions.
