A lovely wedding on Lake Como, from Villa del Balbianello to Menaggio
This beautiful young couple has decided to celebrate their wedding in the magnificent setting of Lake Como. Most of the guests came from London so we organized a welcome dinner in Menaggio the day before the big day to welcome the guests and let them taste some must of Italian cuisine: traditional buffets, pizza and an ice cream cart, what more could you ask for?
For the ceremony, the couple chose Villa del Balbianello, a breathtaking location owned by FAI in Lenno, on Lake Como. The guests reached the villa via a boat ride that allowed them to enjoy the view. The groom also reached the villa aboard a Venetian-style boat in the company of his groomsmen, while the bride got ready together with her bridesmaids at the Grand Hotel Victoria and reached Villa del Balbianello on a private boat, accompanied by her father. The ceremony was filled with emotion, laughter and love.
Immediately afterwards, the guests were able to enjoy a small refreshment, sipping Franciacorta and immersing themselves in the splendid views that the villa offers, among terraces and gardens. The reception was instead held in a private villa, where an aperitif with a view of the lake and jazz background music was waiting for the guests.
Having to adapt a private property to make it host our event, we completely transformed the pool area, which was covered to create a marquee where we set up the dinner area. Two long imperial tables laden with flowers and a game of glass vases, illuminated by splendid chandeliers that hung from above.
The party continued with speeches, toasts and the cutting of the cake. To open the dances, a traditional first dance that paid homage to the Danish origins of the groom, the “brudevals”, where guests clapped their hands and got closer and closer to the couple until they were so close that they could no longer move, finished this song the party then continued until late with the DJ set in the cellars.
An unforgettable day for the bride, the groom and their 80 guests who had the opportunity to be together again the next day, where they could enjoy a delicious brunch in Menaggio.
