Laqua by the lake, on Lake Orta, was the setting for this Indian wedding
To celebrate their Indian wedding our couple chose the splendid setting of Lake Orta. For this three-day event the 40 guests stayed at the wonderful location Lacqua by the lake of the famous Michelin starred chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo, a lake view resort surrounded by nature, with refined suites and luxurious panoramic penthouses.
The first day was dedicated to welcoming guests and the Mehendi ceremony, where henna was applied to the bride and women accompanied by music and good food. A very engaging and fun tradition.
The following morning the haldy was held, a ceremony in which a mixture of Haldi (turmeric), oil, water and other ingredients is applied to the bride and groom by family members as a sign of blessing. For the occasion, the panoramic terrace was set up on the top floor of the resort. The newlyweds were seated on a rattan pouf, surrounded by flowers and their loved ones.
Like every Indian wedding, the ceremony was opened by the Baraat, the groom’s wedding procession accompanied by dhol players, an Indian percussion instrument. The ceremony was set up in the pool area, overlooking the lake, with a majestic floral structure that served as a backdrop for the couple. A series of traditional rites such as ring warming, the exchange of garlands and the salt ceremony gave life to a truly emotional celebration, full of prayers, good wishes and love.
This was followed by an aperitif on the terrace, and dinner was then held in the restaurant area, with open window to not renounce the view. For the occasion, a long imperial table was set up embellished with an elegant floral decoration combined with a huge number of candles.
The cutting of the cake brought everyone together again on the terrace overlooking the lake, and then finally the dancing and fun began, which accompanied the guests until late. On the last day the guests enjoyed the remaining time in the resort enjoying all the comforts that the structure offered.
