Lakeside romance and unexpected joy
A boat arrival, vows overlooking the water and dinner surrounded by blush flowers and candlelight. This wedding at Villa Regina Teodolinda brought 65 guests together in Laglio for an intimate, elegant celebration, with Lake Como as the backdrop to an entire wedding weekend. And one unexpected moment, embraced with good humour, became one of its most cherished memories.
A warm welcome on the lake
The celebrations began the day before with a two-hour boat trip: time to reconnect, settle into the weekend and admire the villas and villages from the water. Back on shore, a welcome dinner at Locanda del Cantiere, in the heart of Laglio, brought everyone around the table. With its connection to a historic boatyard, the restaurant offered an intimate setting for a relaxed evening of shared dishes, flowers and candlelight.
The intimate charm of a lakeside villa
Villa Regina Teodolinda is a historic residence set directly on Lake Como, with a garden that slopes towards the water and a private jetty. Its warm-toned façade, green shutters and leafy corners give it the feeling of an elegant home, welcoming a celebration while preserving its sense of intimacy.
Here, the couple got ready surrounded by their closest loved ones. The bride’s compact, all-white bouquet complemented the clean lines of her dress: an understated choice that echoed the quiet elegance of the day.
Vows by the water
The groom arrived by boat at the villa’s jetty as guests took their seats for the ceremony. The bride made her entrance down the steps facing the lake, accompanied by a string quartet. For a moment, everything seemed to pause, all eyes on her with the water stretching out behind.
Beside the pool, a floral arch framed the exchange of vows. Low arrangements lined the aisle in white, cream and delicate shades of blush and peach, with touches of greenery. The religious ceremony also included the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass, a personal gesture that brought the couple’s heritage into their vows.
A romantic return by boat
After the ceremony, the newlyweds took a short boat trip on the lake, a little time to themselves before rejoining the celebrations. The photographs capture them sitting close together on board, the landscape passing beyond the windows. Meanwhile, guests gathered at the villa for aperitivo to the sound of a jazz trio. The couple’s return brought everyone together again for toasts and conversation on the terrace.
Dinner among flowers and candlelight
In front of the villa, round tables and the couple’s table created a reception of understated grace. White linens, clear glassware and flowers in shades of cream, blush and apricot allowed the beauty of the setting to shine. Arrangements on raised stands alternated with small vases and lower flowers, giving the tables a gentle rhythm without overwhelming them.
Candles at different heights and chandeliers suspended among the trees lent a growing warmth to the evening as daylight faded. Dinner unfolded between courses and speeches from those closest to the couple, filled with smiles and heartfelt words.
Ten minutes of rain to remember
Then, during dinner, the rain arrived. A passing shower of around ten minutes was enough to transform the scene and create some of the wedding’s most beautiful photographs. Guests took it in their stride: some sheltered beneath napkins draped over their heads, while others began dancing in the rain. At one point, the newlyweds sat on the ground to finish their meal, side by side and smiling.
Those photographs capture the shared joy of the celebration. Alongside the elegance of the details are spontaneous gestures, laughter and the freedom to enjoy the day even as it takes an unexpected turn.
A Plan B was, of course, in place, with indoor spaces for dinner and sheltered alternatives for the other parts of the celebration. For an outdoor wedding, a suitable backup plan is an essential part of the design. Even with careful planning, however, a sudden shower can arrive once the festivities are already underway. Having an alternative ready allows that moment to be met with confidence and calm. Here, the brief spell of rain and the guests’ good spirits left a particularly happy memory.
The celebration continues
The cake cutting marked the start of the final part of the evening, followed by the first dance and a DJ set. The photographs move from candlelight to the energy of the dance floor, with embraces, hands in the air and the bride tossing her bouquet. That same desire to spend time together carried into the next day, with a pizza party and open bar at Relais Villa Vittoria, a charming lakeside residence in Laglio. A relaxed farewell that made room for a little more time together before everyone headed home.
Our big day finally arrived and Daniela and Francesca prepared everything perfectly and took care of all our guests and their requests. Despite the short time to organize the wedding we did not have to worry about anything. We were super happy and would like to relive that day again and again. Thank you very much Daniela and Francesca for accompanying us on this journey.
